1" caliber round What is it?
A friend of mine asked me if I could find any info about this round: made of steel, not magnetic: Caliber 1" lenght 2.60 inches
The bands are a bit larger in diameter than the slug, possibly for engaging the rifling, is it a type of anti-armor round? I thought it belonged to an Apache Helicopter M230E1 Chain Gun, then I realized that if I'm not wrong Apache's has got only 30mm caliber chain gun. I enclose a couple of pictures that I've just taken. Thanks in advance! Sergio

That works out to ~25mm...You say steel; is it magnetic??? Some armor piercing bullets are depleted uranium, like the A-10 Warthog uses in it's 'Gatling' gun...But I don't believe uranium is magnetic...

That looks like an old "turn-of-the-last-century" Hotchkiss projectile.
