THE MYSTERY ANSWERED, Goerge luger, financed his early years making 'custom' lugers for various persons, dignitaries, In the space on the top of the barrel base, was enscibed, either custom enitials, example, 'GL' i now knoow that 'Lugers At Random" IS A REFERENCE BOOK, ONLY, NOT ALL THEIR IS" WHAT GREAT ABOUT THIS WORK OF ART, IS THAT THERE ARE MANY YET, NOT DISPLAYED, FOR REASONS, ONLY THEIR FAMILYS KNOW, GOOD HUNTING, ERIC, ESQ.

Interesting story. What is the source of it?

It's generally accepted that the GL monogram only appeared on pistols which were made under Luger's direct supervision, usually prototypes or limited series for acceptance, trials and presentation purposes. Sadly there are many fakes going around.

Other versions were just a matter of the market at work. If someone was willing to pay for a variation and DWM saw a possible profit, they made it.
