Info on 1902 Carbine

Hallo Gents,,

I'm new on this forum not into Luger collecting, but need your help with this 1902 Carbine.
Can you confirm this carbine is an original one?
Do you have more info about the holster/pouch?

For security and the fact that we retain images for the long term, it's much better if you post pictures right here on the forum. Use the "Advanced" mode of the editor to attach photos.

I typically resize pictures I'm going to post to about 1024 pixels horizontally...

after cropping - the software will almost always resize a large photo for you

here is one that started as 1.93 megabytes - the forum software shrunk it for me, simply by uploading it...

It seems you have a nice original 1902 Carbine.
Although I'm far from being an expert the finish looks original and I can't see any issues.
On the contrary, the carbine looks to be in very good condition, in the correct serial range for a 1902 Carbine.
I can't say anything on the leather case but it is an exquisite accessory.

Jerry handmade the leather carry case~ This is the 1920 "parts" carbine.During the Weimer period they used leftover parts to reissue some new guns!

Beautiful unrestored example of a 1902 carbine. Buttplate especially looks correct; serial in correct place; safety 'shadow' correct...Do all numbers match???

We don't see a pic of the [field stripped] barrel...Does it have the auxiliary/helper recoil spring???

I may be ignorant but I see two different sets of serial numbers, 23854 and 2305.

The accelerator (auxiliary/helper) spring assembly in the forearm is shown in the last photo of the original post. Even though there is no photo posted of the lug on the underside of the barrel that activates the spring, since the gun is all matching I am sure the lug is present.
The gun is very nice looking and obviously all original. It exhibits overall fine rust spotting (sometimes called "patina" by dealers

). This is not terribly detractive but is indicative of improper storage. I hope it has not been stored in the leather case but I suspect such is the situation. A light "massage" with 0000 steel wool and oil may improve the appearance somewhat. In addition to the "patina" the gun looks dry. From this day forward the gun should be stored with a light surface lubrication and never stored for extended periods in the leather case.

Then I'm having trouble seeing how it works...

The forearm doesn't seem to have any spring in it...
