Question Luger Box Opinions

hello,
I bought this box because i wanted to have a place to store my Luger until i was able to add the appropriate holster. I should have asked the dimensions as it seems it may have been for an artillery Luger? Also, at first I thought it was a lacquer finish on the top, when I received it, it seems its been drawn on the topside.. not sure, but it appears post-war.. needless to say it would have cost more to ship it back to Netherlands & so i decided to keep it as a novelty item. Has anyone seen one of these boxes?
Than you in advance.
Darius

p.s. it does have a musty odor

A completely modern, fantasy item.

Pretty cool if the price was right.

I agree with Doug, "pretty cool box if the price was right.", however you may want to reconsider storing your Luger in a holster long term as the chemicals that are present in the leather may have a disastrous effect on the surface of your pistol.

Is the problem with leather the chemicals or the fact that it absorbs humidity (which you don't want)?

Both, actually. The tanning acids used to cure leather and the dies to color it are both enemies of a guns finish and no matter how dry your environment, leather will absorb any moisture that is available.

I agree with the previous comments, the box is absoluteely nice but I would not even store a GLOCK in a box like that, not to mention in a leather holster .

Nice. I am a bigger fan of anatomical correctness than political correctness!!!

I'm curious to see a pic of the better one, if you meant figure v. avatar pic.

Smile Box With Swastika

Yes...the box is a "Fantasy" item.....and the Eagle is from a Stencil .......Ive been a Collector and Dealer in Militaria all my life....couple of years ago......I picked up a number of the Eagle with Swastika Stencils exactly as the one on the box from a Reenactor...cant remember exactly where...but they have been in my shop for at least 10 years....back in the day.....I used to get old Military boxes....and put the stencil on the top.....sold them at Military Shows as repros to keep odds and ends in...etc......anyway.....bottom line...it IS a repro.....just my $0.02 worth........Hans Fischer
