That could be the very C-96 and holster-stock I now own.

Interesting...Your link is from WW II In Color, so I assume that is a Chinese...

All 5 fingers wrapped around the grip; no trigger finger...Not too well versed in handguns??? Shoes seem funny for a soldier...

Looks like a "Bolo" version.
Typical configuration exported to chine during the 1920s.
Great picture indeed! Thanks for sharing.

I think the barrel is too long to be a "Bolo"?

Dat be Leeroy. Soon after he had gender modification. I told him he was wrapped too tight, she/he was very insistant about taking the pic. Still hanging up on the 5 finger mode. I think that this pic is where lorraine bobitt got the idea.

Just rambling, it is a cold dreary night in the northeast.

From the furrows it looks like a not very recently plowed field in bright sunshine, (thus the loss of background).
From the pencil marks on the top it looks like somebody intended to crop the photo further.

A soldier knows enough to keep his finger off the trigger unless he intends to fire his weapon.
Pretty basic stuff.
I spent a yrar and a half living and working with irregulars and from his look, I'd say he knows his business.
