OK, I give up which Luger is this? The only proof (?) I can see is a triangle in a circle. 3 digit SN?

(Constanzo WORLD OF LUGERS,page 156) yours looks like 4 &3/4" 30 Luger barrel
Yours might be Commercial because it does not have the M2 Crest on chamber. Does it have a CARREGEDA marked extractor?

Thor is right Portuguese

Many of the M2 crest were removed after 1910, can not tell if yours is that way .

a good picture of the side looking straight on and a picture of the top crest area will help determine what has happen.

Also if you done mind look at the bottom of the sear bar to see if it is serialized there

Is there a circle triangle on the rear of the frame?

There is a proof mark in the rear of the receiver.
I haven't removed the sear bar.
the top of the receiver looks excellent. There are no grinding marks nor any discoloration of the blue.

Vern, what is a realistic value for the gun?

Simpsons : http://www.simpsonltd.com currently has SN 828 for sale, just a few numbers away from yours.
Lugers were mostly manufactured in very distinct batches , so I think your gun did have a crest at one time. If you look at your strawed parts you will see that they are almost new looking especially the trigger. They were most likely redone.
Any time a gun has been messed with it lowers the collector value and we still need to determine if its all original.

Several more pictures would be required before anyone would put a price on the gun.

The Simpson price is pretty close high retail, I have seen very nice examples go for less than $2900. missing the crest and the re straw really lowers the price a WAG would be $1200 to $1300 and it might not be easy to get that much.

I know this is not what you want to hear:

Your gun has some very interesting history attached to it the M2's remained in service for a very long time, they were great guns.

We would still like to see more pictures, we see the modified M2's once in awhile and always find them interesting.

I am going thru the reminder of the Luger's and came up with another Porteguese. SN 10XX. Same condition.
I've looked from the barrel towards the receiver and don't see any real difference in the top of the receiver. I compared them to other Luger's of the same vintage. The very top seems thinner than the area at 10 and 2 when compared to the barrel.

Vern, I am helping a friend's widow sell some of her husbands guns. he and I would meet in Ohio for the Ohio show 5 times ayear for 16 or 17 years. We had some good times and even bought a gun or two once in a while. He collected military and I was commercial only so we never had a conflict. A number of our friends have bought quite a bit and I am trying to sell the rest. I finally broke down and bought some of the better military items as investments.
I am going to be away until Wednesday or Thursday and I wil post pictures then.

Just be honest and post with clear pictures, many have luck selling their items.
