Default 2 PO8 Lugers with consecutive serial numbers

I purchased a PO8 Luger in Florida in 1979. My grandfather purchased one in Atlanta in 1948. Whe he died I was left his Luger which I received yesterday. The guns are identical and have the DMW monograms . The unique thing about the guns are that grandfathers serial number located on the under side of the barrel is 1340 and the serial number on my original Luger is 1341. Both have all matching serial numbers and no military markings. Above the serial numbers both have the proof mark crown over N above the serial numbers. Can someone tell me what I might have here. It's sounds like the odds of consecutive serial numbers is rare to say the least.

Robert,
Welcome to the forum. That is an amazing coincidence. Do they have the same letter suffix under the ser# on the front of the frame? Can you post photos?

Ron
