Default Bad firing pin

I have a 1936 S/42 with matching # except mags, The gun only fires about two times and hangs up, i put another firing pin in it from an older luger which is longer then the org. firing pin and it shoots just fine. My question is will this longer firing pin damage the gun? even though it shoot's great now.
I am putting the org. firing pin up as it is marked [01] as the rest of the gun is and i would like to have it repaired one day. Any advice, comments?

It should be fine with the replacement pin... Your original CAN be repaired, but then it would be an all matching REPAIRED Luger... I would just keep it as is for collecting purposes...

I pick up parts when I can and have about 10 firing pins. I have several that just don't seem to go into most breachblocks, especially one firing pin, it is just too large or something?

So, I just hang onto them, figuring, well, I'll use them at some point......

Iboos,

Please post your photo here on the Lugerforum server using the Upload photo feature, or you can edit your original post using the pencil/paper icon at the bottom right corner of the post and use the "manage attachments" button to load the photo. Photos put on public storage sites like photobucket.com cannot be seen by many members because the corporate firewalls they are behind block access to such sites. Also, these sites tend to get reorganized frequently, and even go out of business so the links often go dead. So please post photos here in the future.
