If you will note of page 320 that Datig has the 1908 Venezuelan and the Spandau flaged with and asteris, but without explanation. I ASSUME that this would indicate that their validity is in question. I also find it interesting in this early listing he doesn't show a true military Kreighoff production, but does show 3 variations of KH marking on DWM made lugers. I'd be more apt to believe the Indonesian connection, rather than a Venezuelan contract. TH

Three lines under that is a 1908-14 "SS"(?) 9mm, "DWM" or "Erfurt", dated or undated, "Death's Head" over chamber...*Without* an asterick...

I have to wonder "What was he thinking???"...

The odds are greater that it is a 'Republic of Texas' star than anything to do with Indonesia

I think this is either Venezualan, or a pistol made to resemble that variation, using Datig's book as a guide line.

An old fake crossed my mind.
What is interesting to me is that the other marking which kinda looks like a V on the front left side of the reciever. What is that marking and what does it represent?

'V' for 'Venezuala', probably. Proof- or property/acceptance marking.

What is strange, is the absence of commercial or military proof markings on the pistol.

Although there are 8 small stars on Venezuela's flag, they have never used a star motif to designate their goverment, armed forces or culture in general.

The only Latin Country where the star is prevalent as a key element in an official seal is Brazil.
