I was of the opinion that this variation was first developed by the DWM for distribution to the various Polish Resistance Groups to have for Target Practice, And were equiped by the Polacks with a small mirror that attached in the Frame Rear Strap Loop for watching your rear.
I started to purchase one just before the "Old Forum" Deceased! [img]redface.gif[/img]

OK, now for some more fun. Aside from the obvious changes there is one subtle change that will not be found on any Luger. The title of "Hawkeye" goes to the first person to figure it out.

you sneaky snake, you filled the Locking bolt and Locking bolt spring HOLES!!! <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" /> and relabled the safety to read from top down, instead of from bottom up !!!, and you have swapped the Safety from the Port Side of the Cannon Assembly to the Starboard side. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" />

(That thread on the Prince's Luger must have gotten to me <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" /> ) I was actually looking for the Gesichert answer, the rest of the changes were simply the result of having to mirror image the cannon assembly to get it pointing in the wrong direction.

What is the need for a "clip" in this particular model of the Luger (or is the clip capacity merely "one" round)? And were they supplied to the enemy?

Ron, surely the original of this model was a Borchardt, and it would be marvelous if you could find a von Papen version!

WOW! Are you guys a serious disappointment! Do none of you recognize two fine examples of the elusive Imperial Japanese Joint Army/Navy Contract Luger? Extremely RARE examples as most now rest at the bottom of the ocean.

These pistols were issued ONLY to Kamakazee pilots for use in the event that they were shot down and survived. It was their final chance to succeed in their mission should they find themselves in imminent danger of capture. The two examples illustrated in this thread may be the only surviving guns from the contract and are obviously unissued.... hence, the superb condition of both.

There's also an unsubstanciated rumor among advanced collectors that these may have been presentation model Kamakazee pistols, presented to pilots who completed five successful missions. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
