New Owner Here!
I recently discovered this site, and posted a message for information. A big fat "Thanks" to you gentleman for assisting me. I thought I should post something about me, and my recently purchased Luger. About me: I collect WW2 German militairia, and an opportunity for acquiring this Luger directly from the vet's widow. I knew them casualy, living across the street from my sister & brother-in-law. "Jim" recently passed away, and was of the very first black members of the 82nd Airborne division. He obtained the luger while performing occupation duty in Germany in 1946.
The Luger is dated 1938 & has all matching numbers, with one matching number mag. It has some type of "animal bone" grips. It came with a P38 holster dated 1942! There is some blue loss at the very front of the barrel; I guess from holster use. Another brother-in-law, who has a few "collectible" rifles, examined the bore & other parts and calls this "90% blue with a mint bore". So this purchase is the only handgun I ever made. I hope to acquire the correct tool and a date-matching brown holster, and the weapon will be placed within a display box. I hope to fire it just one time, for "posterity". It's possible the weapon may be placed for sale in the future, but doubtful. I paid $700 for the gun & holster. Thanks again for the assisitance. P.S. My moniker "waradmiral" was chosen since I own an extremely rare WW2 German "General-Admiral" tunic, believed to belong to General-Admiral Marschal, who commanded Naval Group Atlantic headquartered in Paris from 1941-43. |

Re: New Owner Here!
Waradmiral; congratulations on your purchase!! A good deal for sure. Lots of holsters and loading tools on E-bay. A brown holster will be spendy. I have lots of militaria, but nothing like your uniform. I haven"t got anything for awhile because it is faked even more than Lugers. Welcome to the forum.

The grips are more likely horn rather than bone?
