Hi Steve! Neat gun! Looks like a Luger to me! Two questions? The rear toggle pin seems to have a extra large flange or head on it, is this standard to the stainless P.08's......and, does the mag. have a wood bottom on it? till....later....G.T.

Thanks for the response! The rear toggle pin is flanged (or has a large flat head, whichever you prefer) on the left side. That way, it only goes in and out from the one side. The magazine bottom is black plastic. I bought it through a local shop but had to give them all the ordering information. That info is:

AIMCO., Inc

5123 Gulfton

Houston, Texas 7081

Phone: 713-661-9301

Fax: 713-661-5411

I have had to call about a problem with the magazines and the president of the company called me back and I am in the process of getting the magazines repaired or exchanged. He seems very committed to keeping customers satisfied.

Default Steve, do you think...

AIMCO should be listed in our Links and Resources as a service to our members? What say you all?

Dok,

I personaly see no problem with having AIMCO listed as a dealer in reproduction Stainless Steel Lugers. Even though this is not an original pistol from Germany, it is still a variation. I understand that there is differing opinions on the quality of this pistol, but never the less, it is a form of Luger.

I don't like stainless steel auto pistols as I feel the material is to "finicky" and prone to gauling if not lubricated, but that is my opinion only. They are probably fun to shoot and enjoy. IF they give problems, that is just part of the pistol. I vote to add them as a source.

Dok, I think they SHOULD be listed as a resource of Lugers. People are always wanting to know about them. They are part of the Luger culture! Their sales cannot be too bad, they keep making these pistols. I think they go a long way to preserving the pre 45 Lugers. They may also give a person a way to shoot a lot through a Luger while preserving some of the collection pieces. Some people dont know there are nice pre 45 shooters. I think they are a good item for the resources section. I vote to add them! I say if people dont like them, dont buy them, but at least give them the freedom to choose. Thor

Default In all fairness...

original Lugers have magazine problems, holdopen problems, extraction problems and cartridge problems also. And PLEASE let's not turn this into another heated debate over original vs. stainless steel, I think we all know agruments by now.

I vote deffintely for NO.

If they are placed on the links and recources that is partly the same as they have LUGERFORUM quality mark.

It's the same as saying to beginners and less knowing people those guns are fine go ahed and buy them.

I am convinced there are enough original missmatched shooters out there to fill the gap for us that want to shoot with our lugers.

Besides it's pretty obvius that mostly people not shooot with a 1500 USD pistol if they can have a 500 USD to shoot with.

Best Regards HÃ?Â¥kan

Yep Doc you are absolutely right,

There is numerous probels with original lugers.

Mostly problems is caused by 60yrs plus service life and most importanly of all previus experts that tried to tune triggerpulls etc.

But the SSguns are not 60 yrs plus, they are factory new.

I personally feel that they should work pretty ok.

But ok Doc I will not provocate more in the SS debate but I will deffintely answer when a newbie wants to hear a honest opinion.

I have 4 magazines and two of them have a problem but the other two feed Winchester 115gr with no problems. The other two are backat the factory becaus Mr. Romo (Rres. of AIMCO) said that they found they needed to change the springs for proper feeding. It will be fixed at no charge.

One thing to remember in this debate on reliability is the number of mismatched pistols. They are mismatched because original parts were swaped out for newer ones. the three reasons that I can think of are 1: parts were lost in cleaning,2: parts did not work properly, or 3: parts broke.

As far as reliabilty, the two magazines work fine. Besides Lugers are not noted for absolute reliabilty. If I want absolute reliabilty, I have an Astra Model 600. It fires and chambers no matter what ammo I put in it!

I believe the stainless luger should be listed as NEW production in the links & resources, because that is exactly what it is! I personally don't want to side with anyone on the issue of their quality, but, they are a ligitimate pistol built on new fixtures and tooling, probably as close to spec. as finances will allow! For me! It doesn't have to be German or Swiss to be a Luger or Luger part.....Down the road, (it's even happening now!) craftsmen are producing Luger parts, even complete pistols, (Mike Krause's creations) that rival or exceed the original's in many way's! Yes, they are expensive, but that is always reflected in quality hadcrafted works! The stainless may not be a show stopper, but I'll bet they gobble up ammo same as any other luger, and provide the owners with unlimited hours of fun! I like em all!! till...later...G.T.

As much as I respect differing opinions I find myself constantly offended by Hakan's negative remarks about Aimco-Stoeger Lugers. As a proud owner of a Stainless Steel Luger from them my report is that they are functional, nice and very enjoyable to shoot. That is the point of shooting or Luger collecting as a hobby the enjoyability right? Not just measuring the supposed tensile strength of the materials.

Dok, John, and all others who service this web site. I will be as diplomatic as I can but Hakan does not simply offer "another opinion". He is rude and outright arrogant and very opinionated. I am through lowering myself to his level but I dont wish to come to this forum to have one of the very things i cherish(along with my wife and my teaching career) constantly assaulted. My interest and my firearm are as much a part of Luger history as the Borchardt pistol. Problems come with new and old as we all know. I made peace saying we just go our own ways but im really bitng my tongue here in the spirit of civility.
