Default Luger calendar

As I flipped my USA shooting team calendar on the 1st, I thought since we have a Luger of the month picture, why not a forum calendar? I know one would look great above my desk. What do you guys and gals think? I know you have some beautiful lugers out there and would be proud to have them displayed in a calendar. I'm sure all of us together could manage something.

Default Since this version of the forum only started this year...

I think Dok (our webmaster) was going to wait until we had our 12th month anniversary and then use the last 12 Lugers of the Month for a calendar that the forum would sell to offset costs since there are no membership fees...

Hey Dok??? whatyathink? Should we do it based on photo submissions? Maybe a contest for the best photos submitted that could be voted on for inclusion in the calendar?

You could put up a page for voting for the 12 best photos submitted...????

I have only seen the last 3 or 4 "Lugers of the Month". How do I view all of the Months' Lugers.?

Default I am sure that Dok has archived them but

I don't think there is a page that shows them all... that is the basis of my idea for the calendar, to make all of them available for downloading... and to create a really unique calendar to sell to support this great site of ours...

Hugh, That is a fantastic idea!

Send me 3 patches and put them on my tab.

Hugh, I'll try to talk our FRUGAL friend "Big Norm" into popping for a couple patches.

Default Re: Luger calendar

I had planned to put up a page showing the 12 Lugers of the Month in each year as a separate web page, maybe even in a calendar form on the web site. One of my concerns is that some of the pictures, while suitable for screen display (72 DPI) would be totally unsuitable for printed media (1200 DPI and above).

And then there's the issue of if we aren't going to use some of that year's LOM, then what do we use and how do we choose them and who get to say etc etc.

And while many of you purchased forum patches after the fact, those patches had to be funded by a half dozen or so forum members up front, and as I recall it was a pain in the behind getting it organized.

I remain unconvinced that this is viable, but if there is grassroots groundswell movement for this idea, then finding volunteers and funders shouldn't be a problem, and you certainly have MY blessing.

Default Re: Luger calendar

I"m all for having a "Luger Calendar" available to the group. Although, I think most everyone has seen a really nice 1900 Eagle, an Artillary with holster and stock, a Navy etc. I have 1 of each , and never get tired looking at them. What I think would be different, would be a calendar of "unusual" Lugers, like John D's, Lugers that a lot of us have never seen or even heard of. I'm sure there must be 11 more unusual Lugers out there besides John D's. Just a thought.

You could let Hugh sell them, I could order 5 or 6 and he could put them on my tab, just like the patches I ordered.

Gruss Gott,Kinder!

I LOVE the idea of a calender!! At the same time,I understand the sticking points you put forward,Dok.I will personally pledge to put in at least $100 to get the project moving along if

the technical (and other) questions can

be resolved.I don't have the means to aquire such a grand piece unless it can be transfered to printed material, but I could still view it here as long as my

"server" continues to allow me access to this site.

As for the patches,I didn't know they

were still available.I was greedy the fist time around, but if they are still to be had,let me know if all details are the same.I assume I still send the check to Hugh.I think I still have the address squirreled away.

Beyond that, you mention the expense of maintaining the site and such. While I very much appreciate the fact that this is not a "fee"-based destination for me (if it were,I'm sure I would have done a pass),I would be more than happy to make a volunteer contribution to help defray the cost of such a magnificent source of information regarding the Parabellum (Luger) pistol and many of the other bits of infomation which I've "soaked up" while being a sponge (all were forwarned I had little or nothing to contribute in the way of knowledge on the subject at hand).

Very loooong!Sorry!Let me know if the calender proposition has any future! Thanks!

Tschuss! Mark M.

Just wish I could find someone interested in both, Classic Balloon Tire Bikes AND "Classic" Lugers. We could do some real "trading". I see by the Rogues Gallery, that there are an awful lot of faces who can remember those old bikes.
