Default Side Menu/Main Page

Appears to be missing something this morning, Links and Resources do not appear and perhaps somehting else but I am not sure what all was there. I see the Message Board and Rogues Gallery Link, the History of the Luger, the Techinical Information and the General Information, Owners Corner and Unsorted Photos, followed by the Counter banner. What is missing? ~Thor~

Default You asked "What's Missing?"....

The only thing missing is an AOL browser that works 100% of the time!!

Seriously - it's all there from "A-Z", "Soups to Nuts", Message Board - LUGER OF THE MONTH"...

Oh - then you probably can't see the NEW SECTION Dok must'a put up early this AM called "TED'S EXCELLENT EXAMPLES"???

He opens that section by saying it's only a temporary section.. Shhesssh - hope AOL gets their problems squared away before Dok takes it down.....

(LOL!!!! )

Default JohnD take another look:8

Sorry John, but there is something missing! It appears that the counter icon and Dok's email icon are covering up something below Links & Resources. I don't remember what it was (or is) but the icons have moved up for sure.

And I'm not using AOL But am using Netscape 4.76

Default WOW - you are right!!:-)

OK - what I think it is that in the MENU column - there is a "frame in a frame" (right DOK??). If you use larger fonts - then the line spacing of the menuitems pushes the lower categories off the menu (actually *behind* the other page frame)...

If you folks "decrease" your font size "]" a size - do you see more categories?? My guess would be yes..?? Hey DOK - maybe Ted is right on this - your thoughts???

Default Re: Side Menu/Main Page

This is definitely an AOL problem, I got an email from Paul R. with exactly the same problem. The sidebar menu is now two frames (instead of one) on top of each other, separated at the Visitor Counter. The concept of "Larger Fonts" may be at the bottom of it, and if you can make the the top frame say "Smaller Font" maybe it will reduce to show the entire menu. The menu should read:

Owner's Corner

Unsorted Photos

Links & Resources

Classifieds

LUGER of the MONTH

See the example below... I'm afraid someone with more PC/AOL experience than me is needed here...

Yesterday Dok's Icon was below and to the right of the Counter Icon. It looks like Dok tried to put it even with the Counter and ended up deleting too many CR's.

If you set your screen resolution HIGHER (I use 1024 x 768) more information will show up. To do that you need to (In Windows 95 & 98) right click anywhere on the desktop that doesn't have an icon - go to Properties - then click on the tab at the top of the window marked Settings. You will see a slider that can be moved to a different resolution. Change it to what you like best. Try it you might like it.

Default DWant to try something in your HTML for the top frame - left menu?

And change the FRAMESET declarations to hard pixel values?

Dok, it's appearently a Netscape problem too! I'm not using AOL and it's doing the same thing here. Since I use a higher resolution than some I have more showing up, but something changed that moved the two icons up.

Default IE 5.5 has the same issues with the left frames

I think Frank may be seeing cached pages from his own cache or maybe his provider's proxy servers...because I have the same issue with IE 5.5 as the netscape and aol users...

two left frames... the lower one with the counter and dok's email slides with the width of the window and can cover up the upper frame depending on your resolution. These conditions are not really a monitor for me as I have a 19 inch monitor and run 1600x1200 resolution and the second frame naturally falls to the bottom of my large screen.

Changing font size (using the view menu) from medium to larger sizes makes the left frame text run past the fixed width...

The lugerforum.com at the top of the left frame is maxed out on the width of the frame at medium text size.

I hope all that info helps you and John D square this away...

Hi Dok & John, My sidebar is still screwed up. I can correct it by going to "view" and making the Text size smaller, but that makes everything smaller and my eyes ain't that good anymore. You've got to realize that I'm an old man and things have been failing . Heck!!! I'm even older than Hugh!!!!!!

I can tell you for a fact that the problem is browser related. If the window is not big enough to contain the data, then the browser starts to move things around. I can't control that. The problem will go away if you have at least a 800 x 600 screen resolution (more might be needed on a small (15") monitor), and set your font size smaller. For those of you with vision problems, I question whether you should be playing with guns !!
