Post g date grip question

my luger is all matching but no serial no on the grips. was this the norm for g dates? the grips are old walnug. and have some wear on the checkering. how does one tell if they are original to the gun?

So far as I know my early ("b" suffix) "G" date has original grips. They're walnut and show age and wear. On the inside one is marked "S 42" and the other seems to be unmarked.

G-Date grips can be either numbered or not numbered. The early G-date, say Blocks A, B, C, D some may be marked. The later blocks, E and F are usually not numbered.

I've got a late K date (8xx w/'a' suffix- my guess is Dec-ish production) and one of the grips is #'d, the other is not, but obviosly they are original and a matching pair.

My 2 cents.

Mine in the early C block (17xx) has neither of the inside grip panels marked in any manner.

I find the best way to tell if the grips on a PO8 are original to that particular gun, is the fit to the frame. No overlap of the front and rear grip straps. TH

Yep....despite being almost 70 years old and having about half the finish worn off, my "G" has grips that fit PERFECTLY. In fact, you have to be very careful removing them so as not to chip the edges since they fit so snugly.
