Default restamp artillery

Saw a 1916 LP-08 on a gunsale site serial 7315 on the proper places of the gun but the last number of the serial on the left side of the receiver appeared as a 2 overstamped by a 5. 15's on all other parts. Finish appeared to match on all parts. has all the proper stampings on the right side of the receiver. What is the chance this was a correct gun. Almost impossible to believe someone would have 7315 parts and a 7312 rec.

Hi Tom,
While I suppose it’s possible though unlikely, that the breechblock was overstamped at the factory, you’ll have a hard time convincing a buyer that this was the case should you ever want to resell this gun. My advice, pass.

Overstamped numbers are not rare, not common either- but like Norm says, unless it is cheap or you consider it a mismatched shooter, - stay away.

It is ok to post a link or better yet to grab a picture and post it,
so everyone can see and learn. JMHO.

Price is 1900. Can't post pics yet. Just trying to decide.

closed at $1905.
I had looked at it before, and just could not get past the overstamp that made the last number look like an "8" - with 5 over 2 or 2 over 5.

Looked nice otherwise and may be legit, but -again-
one would always have some " 'splainin' " to do.

So would it have been a good buy at that price? Just trying to get educated on the market price for these pistols in various conditions before I actually pull the pin.
