Strange 1920 Commercial Luger
I saw a luger advertised as a 1920 Commercial with a 3 3/4 inch barrel in .30 cal. It also said that "the stock lug was ground off at the backstrap" What does that mean? I know that naval and artillery lugers were fitted for stocks but not commercial models.
It was not very expensive but looked nice. |

It means that the stock lug was literally ground off flush with the grip strap and probably refinished or reblued subsequently...
Yes, Many commercial lugers also have the stock lug... simply because it was standard on the military models... There was a time when some folks believed that it was illegal to have a gun with a stock lug on it...(they were wrong) and they had them modified in this way. It won't hurt the shooting capability at all... just the collector value... if it was cheap...Buy it would be my recommendation. Welcome to the Lugerforum Fred!
