white serial nos. and filler?

It seems that often dealers, esp. online, use some kind of white filler to make serial numbers and proof marks more visible. Is this chalk or white out? Please excuse if this has already been covered.

It has been discussed, you might find it by searching, but nearly everything "white" has or could be used.

Paint, grease pencil, talc, chalk, you name it.

Commonly referred to as a Lacqr-Stik, it is used to highlight numbers and markings. Easy on, easy off. The off-white in the safety (Gieshert) is actually a paint from the factory.

I use the Lacquer-Stiks from Brownells. Goes on easy and doesn't smear. They come in other colors too.

I just use a white paint pen. Works well.

I have found that silver sharpie works well for me.

I like it because it’s very easy to apply and seems to stay put pretty well but can still be removed by any mild solvent.

There are a variety of white (and other colors) paint pens at Hobby Lobby. Take your pick and highlight those hard to see stamps and letters.

I've used white crayon, goes on easy and comes off just easy.
