Default Parcel??

My question got nothing to do with Lugers or firearm.. I'm just exploiting the fact that this is a very helpfull forum

What is a "registred parcel"?

I sold a luger mag. to a guy in France, he claims his money back because I didn't sent a parcel

rk, You're pretty much on the money. You shouldn't have edited. You were correct.

Steinar,

A Registered Parcel(package) goes by Registered mail. Registered mail is the most secure form of mailing an article.

It travels in a locked pouch and has to be accounted for at each point where it will be processed.

When mailed, the clerk lists the number in a "manifold"(registry book).
It is then locked in a safe that only one person has accesss to(the register clerk).

When it is ready to be dispatched it is placed in a locked pouch. The driver who picks it up to take it to the next processing point signs for it. When that person delivers it to that processing point, the person he gives it to also signs for it. Each time it changes hands, it is signed for.

This way it can be traced back to the last person to have it. Thereby making them accountable for it.

The most secure way to send very valuable or irreplacable items.

In 32 yrs I know of only one instance where a registered article was stolen. Two Postal clerks and their supervisor were on their way to a Federal prison about two weeks after it happened. A "Moronic" attempt to steal registered Gov't Treasury Bills.

US Postal Inspectors are not anybody to mess with. Scarey Dudes!!

Parcel is just another word for package.

I hope I have made this easy to understand.

Ron (32 "Glorious" years with USPS)

Thanks R.K and Ron Smith! I now understand what a registered parcel is

I didn't sent it as such, and since I'm without proof for the shipment, he now claims his money back from paypal (even if he probably have received it). My goal for 2006.. not to be fooled as much as in 2005 ..and improve my english

Morgan,

If you have no way of tracking the delivery of that luger to your buyer in France, your only option might be to return the money.

However, I would suggest you report that luger and its serial number as "stolen" to the French authorities. If your buyer does not have the luger, he has no problem. If he has it and tries to register it, he may have difficulties.

Also...if other parties stole your package in France, they same would apply.

I would even report it as stolen in Norway...in case the theft occurred in your country...

Pete,

I think he is talking about a Luger magazine.

Yes, only a magazine..
If a Luger got lost in the mail, there would probably be an investigation. The Norwegian police makes big effort into finding lost/stolen firearms!

Makes me think back five years, I almost lost a Glock in Bosnia. Left it on the top of a car, and as I turned away for it for two sec. another solidier drove away in the car. I shouted "STOP!" but he didn't hear.. Luckily we found the pistol about 1km down the road. Sadly the same pistol was eaten by a dog the month after, but thats a different story

It's not that exciting story.
I was training a dog for search.. Usually we used a dog toy called "kong", witch was also his treat for doing a good job. In this case, I wanted to try another item. The brilliant idea to use the glock hit me like a lightning.. Don't know if it was the disappointment or not, but the dog started chewing on the plastic instead of returning with it. Most of the frame and magazine found its way to the belly.. Even if the dog survived eating the plastic, the dog had to be taken out of duty for incompetence. That was the biggest expense, takes a lot of work to train up those dogs..

Glock eating dog.

And I thought my dogs ate expensive food!

And, Morgan, if I were as fluent in other languages as you are in English, I'd pop some chest buttons.
