It doesn't look like "Germany" to me... Even manipulating the color, contrast and shading hasn't made much difference in legibility, but maybe some other eyes on these modifications may bring some results.

It would be helpful if the photographs were in much better focus, and taken outdoors on an overcast day...

The feedback about this Luger being stolen is highly possible. I never thought about it.
Assuming the word on the barrel is Germany, was it a standard practice to place it on the barrel? And one last question before I leave this barrel queries - what do those marks at the base of the front sight represent?

The sign on barrel is probably left by clamping... someone tried to turn the barrel off using a table vise.

Thanks John. Unfortunately I did not bring my camera. These photos are taken using an iphone taken outdoors under a shade then I transfer them to my ipad. I tried taking it in different angles and this is the best I could do.

I might be wrong but it looks to me like a stamped mark.

The front sight marking could be in a non-Roman alphabet (Farsi?) or perhaps an attempt to cover up a number placed there by the owning organization... My advice is still to sell the gun if it is legal to do so where you are located. Or strip it for parts and destroy the frame. You could never bring it into the USA legally, and I strongly advise against trying to smuggle the gun to anywhere.

The stamp on the front sight looks like a Mauser Crown/crown/U to me.

Here is another shot of that word in the barrel. Thanks for the feedbacks. Looks like it was machine engraved too, most likely post manufacture.

M, The double crown over U on your front sight base indicates that the barrel is the correct original one for your 1937 commerical Mauser banner luger. Unfortunately, the importer's marking on the left side and not clear enough in your photo for me to read. TH

Hi everyone, in a few days I will going back to the USA. Fortunate I will sell the Luger to a gun collector from the south. I inform him about the gun being "hot" but he said he can license and legally keep it in that southern part of the country.
In the few days I have this gun I have learn to admire and love it. It is indeed holding a piece of history in your hands. How it was conceptualize and conceived into its being is beyond ones imagination. Now I know why you guys are so dedicated with so much passion to own and keep such a beautiful gun!
