erma kpg69 grips
I would like to fit my .22 kpg69 with wooden grips. Does
anyone know of a source? I have heard that the kpg68 wood grips will fit the erma 69. Does anyone know if that is correct? ray |

Ithacartist will know as he has both the 68 and 69.
I am in the process of fitting a replacement extractor to mine But I do not think so - I read (somewhere) that the KGP-68 is 75% full size and the KGP-69 is 80% indicating the grip sizes differ Also on Bob's Parts they have parts but the wood grips are listed for 68 only |

Wayne is correct, as you can see. I've always thought ironic that the smaller caliber is the larger pistol of this series.
Antonio is also correct, but only the frame and barrel extension will interchange. Geoff, if by fitting an extractor you mean you're making your own, the reproduction extractors I had made are still in stock. They're crisp, accurate copies of the originals. PM if you need one, in order to save trouble and frustration. Someone just asked me this very question off the forum. Apparently the KGP 690 was never imported to the U.S., although I have seen exactly ONE offered at an auction on Proxibid in the past 9 years. I've found that for the 8mm K ammo that the KGP 690 is chambered for, the K stands for "Knall" in German = "bang" auf English. There is an 8mm Kurz (short) rifle round, a bottleneck shell. The Erma uses a shorter, straight-walled case. These blank pistols came with a gas diffuser that screws into the muzzle, and used when firing either CS gas or teargas cartridges--another handy feature. Back to the grips... I've discovered that the walnut grips for the earlier, full size/weight La-22s and Ep-22s contain within them--you just have to remove the excess, as Michelangelo would say. The tricky part, the tab at the top of each grip panel that tucks into a slot in the frame, is already there, so you'd line up the tabs, with plastic grip and the larger wooden one back to back, trace around the rest, and you have your profile. The rest is just contouring and extending the checkered pattern back to the edges. The definitive work on Erma history and production, authored by Holger Schlemier, is available in its original German, and an English translation should be arriving any day now.

https://jack-first-gun-parts.myshopi...tractor-764-28 But the little button was too large for the breech block hole (slightly) I fitted it which was the easy part. Getting the spring compressed so I could replace the Breech block pin was hard. Ended up putting tiny Allen key in one side compress spring a little, next size up Allen key in the other, back and forward with larger keys until the pin would go through. Quote:
Will be checking to see if I need the chamber reamed next |

wood grips for erma kgp69
thanks for all the help guys. when I lay the kgp69 grip on the
inside of a regular P08 grip, the match is almost perfect except for the length. I think I will try buying a cheap repro luger grip and mark them up on the inside with a tracing of the kgp grip then then cut the luger grip to size. only problem is with the notch on the luger grip for the safety lever. ray |

Ray,
As the grips do have a taper Maybe start from the bottom That will also give you more wood to work with for the ERMA tab at the top. Keep us posted on results Kiwi |

Original Luger grips do come close, but the full-sized Erma grips will save lots of work in the areas of the top tab and the mag release notch.

KGP 69 wood grips
My KGP-69 now has wood grips thanks to Ithaacartist.
Yes there was some fitting required and the result is not perfect. But feels much better when shooting Right side - note the wood does not quite cover the grip. Left side - same area not covered by wood and also I drilled the grip screw countersink too high. I plan to stain that so it is less visible. Back - excess wood removal - thinking about how to make this blend a little better Front - I love it. I did ream the chamber - and ammo feeds fine. Fun little gun |
