Missing typical dimple in the center of the Swiss cross. Or is that because it was German manufacture but finished & barreled by Hammerli in Switzerland?

There is something about that trigger plate that it is ify, still not sure what exactly but it will come to me.

Is it particularly typical for there to be that that outline in the safety area? I know Swiss Lugers are pricier than most other basic Lugers but gosh, already at $3000.

There are many scarce & pricey Luger variations. Especially on early DWM Lugers. Not a Luger expert, but this one is a refurbished gun. Since it's not original, it has no book value. The value is open up to the buyer. Probably this one can go above $4k. Let's bookmark this auction page to track it.

The dimple in the center of the Swiss cross is found only on the very early 1899 preproduction models. The dot was a registration point for hand stamping, as opposed to roll engraving, of the rays on the crest.

That is how the safe position is marked on Model 1900 and 1906 Lugers

I do not necessarily agree that this gun has been refurbished. It may have been, but to my eye there are no obvious signs.

The seller mentioned in advertisement "German manufacture but finished & barreled by Hammerli in Switzerland". Maybe that explains the finish and grip fitting etc. were not DWM quality.

Comparing to the one at the link below, same (i) block, close serial number, there is that discrepancy with that swiss cross above the trigger, difference in the weird top left angle of sideplate. The numbering on the slide lever looks a little faint also.

Oh, sorry, I deleted that post myself. Since this variation was acknowledged legitimately assembled from parts by non-German 3rd party, I guess lots of abnormalities could be covered by that umbrella? Up to the bidders' view.

This one sold $5060. Not much higher than a few days ago. From records, looks like winner collects many types of pistols and only buy guns from Jack.
