Anyone wants this C96?
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=348227695
It's a project gun. What I want on this gun is its follower spring, which is wrong on this model, but it's the one that I am looking for. But seller obviously does not bother to sell this spring separately. If someone buy this one, and could sell that spring to me, I will pay for it, to reduce your cost. Please let me know. |

I recall your writing that you were looking for a specific follower spring, but what is different about this one???
I have my spare parts spring out comparing, and I don't see any difference...Ah! I see! My spare spring has 5 complete 'V's; the one on GB has only 4... I wonder what my C96 and M30 have...Looking... Both my M30 & C96 have 5 "V"s... I hope you find your 4 "V" spring! BTW: What year or model of 'Broomhandle' would that 4 "V" spring have come from originally???

All 10-shot Cone Hammers and Large Ring Hammers have 4 "v" springs. If I remembered right, early Small Ring Hammer (with long extractor in 35xxx range) has 4 "v" as well. But 10-shot Bolo in 4xxxx has 5 "v". Sounds like it appeared roughly in same time as shorter extractor. So this spring in standalone mode is harder to find on the market: sometimes saw an early Mauser in poor condition (the price is not necessarily cheap), supposed to be a parts donor, and that spring has been replaced long time ago. On later Mausers, it's longer follower spring anyway.

Sorry I can't help you. Seller won't take money from a Californian. His (and your) loss.

This gun is hard to go, because it's not usable. Hope owner could change his mind.

This gun is relisted. I just offered seller a "5v" spring along with $150 for his "4v". No reply yet. Waiting.

The seller can do it. Obviously, he's a little bit surprised on this offer, asking whether I need more pictures of the spring or not. Of course, yes. It should be a genuine one, but I need to make sure.
This gun's sight leaf is weird as well. 1-14, any thought on the type of gun this sight leaf coming from? The sight slide looks like coming from a Spanish Broomhadnle, but I have never seen 1-14 leaf on any Spanish guns..... |

Perhaps you and cdmech could work out a 3-way deal with seller??? Seller won't sell to California, you buy & sell to cdmech at $150 discount???

Received spring's pictures. Unfortunately, it's not an original CH/LRH follower spring. I'll pass it.
$150 is top price for a spring, isn't it? I simply cannot find a standalone one. Still looking for a genuine "4v" spring (thanks postie, this name is very intuitive). |
