The right mag?
I have a 1911 Erfurt serial 2302. The pistol is in 98% shape, and has a matching magazine. The serial on the mag runs across the short axis of the base, (left to right) about the same size and font as the serial on the frame- and there is a small 2 behind the finger depression on the base. The mag is period correct, wood base, flat chequering follower button. It has no proofs on the wooden base. I suspect it's "not right". At this time I can't send pictures, as I don't have a smart phone or camera, Something I plan on rectifying because of this forum! Cheers to whomever replies! Mike

That sounds like a police style magazine from the description. Perhaps the pistol was a police re-issue? Not much more to speculate about without pictures of them.
