Default Luger Lighter

My latest LP.08 family member.

It should be noted that no Luger's were harmed in the making of this lighter.

Unfortunately it doesn't Tom ... that would have been so cool ... but it has a refillable gas inlet on the bottom so I will always have flame.

I have also removed the black felt marker the previous owner used to 'color' the grips ... looks better now IMO

Nice item. Not much chance of the barrel poking you in the eye while you are lighting your cigarette!

Was this item originally intended to be a lighter or did you have to machine the cavity for the lighter???

What kind [manufacturer] of lighter is it??? (I collect/used-to-collect cigarette case lighters).

Also...Why such a long barrel???

I have one of these too, but I think the lighter is a bit different.... and the barrel is proportional

Yes this was intended to be a lighter and was manufactured in Japan in the 50's & 60's. Sorry but I couldn't find a name brand.

Who knows why they chose to make the barrel out of proportion but it would be a simple matter to machine the barrel to proper length.

As they seem to go for between $200 - $600 dollars I think I will leave mine alone for awhile.
I got mine @ auction for $27.75 USD premium included.

Anyway I couldn't resist buying it ... I collect LP.08's and I think the lighter is a blast (no pun intended)

Dam it ... just looked out the window and its snowing.

I don't have anything needs lighting? I quit smoking 50 years ago and I recently sold my BBQ grill cause I can't afford meat no more. A Luger lighter is close to buggy whip territory for me...

Not to detract from the thread, but, I have a miniature M4 (ar15) that the flame does come out the barrel's muzzle.

This thread reminds me of the Pink Panther movie where Commissioner Dreyfus shoots his nose off with a pistol lighter.

Love your DWM smoking accessories Vlim ... priceless

Would love to see your M4 lighter Major Tom ... I have seen a double barrel shotgun lighter that flames from both barrels.

One of the best things I ever did for myself was to quit smoking 40 years ago ... many of my friends have passed from smoking related illness and many are now very ill from same.

Best ashtray to own if you are a smoker ya ??

Funny story. In the 1970s Mauser made several 20mm cased lighters as a promotional gift. The first version had a crimped 'bullet' that acted as a container for the actual lighter. But after several customers had been delayed at the airport with these in their luggage as well as a problem with Italian customs who seized an airforce general's gift, they created a second version with a removable top.
