Default Artillery Holster

I just received a copy of the Sportsmans Guide catalog in the mail today. On page 18, there is a reproduction Artillery Holster with 2 mag pouch, cleaning rod, stock toe cup, stock securing strap, and shoulder strap for sale at $79.97. It is all leather with brass fittings and if it looks like the photo, it is great. If you don;t have their catalog, go to their website I have posted on the Optional Link URL under "Artillery Holster". The catalog item number is CX1M-46625. This appears to be well worth the money for even a repro set.

Default Re: Artillery Holster

I think this is the same one I got from Sarco for $84.00

that is on the owners page with my Arty luger.

If it is, it is of acceptable quality (for a copy) and the gun fits the holster properly.

You load seems a little light to me, I sugguest if you want a working load (and again the parts all move easily with out binding ) is to take the load that is not functioning when hand held, and increasing it in steps 0.2 (2/10th) of a grain at a time and firing one round at a time to see if eject is consitant and the toggle locks back. When you find the magic load that locks the toggle back every time you are there (perhaps add 0.2) to that load incase you are shooting in cold weather. If you plan to shoot with the stock all the time, your load is fine as is. Make sure you dont go over recommended loadings (study of several manuals should tell you that) I personally use a load less than one grain increased over yours as my std non P load with a 124 gr bullet

Default Re: Artillery Holster(Luger Load)

Ted, I've used this load for a long time.

In this particular LP-08 the only thing it doesn't do

is lock open, I get no stove pipes, etc.

I "count shots" so I don't fire on the empty chamber.

I've seen several lugers with "peened" holdopens and

breech blocks where the hold open is not reliable or doesn't

work at all(I turned down an Interarms "Swiss" luger because

of this).

After the discussion about damaging the holdopen spring the

other day, I'm glad I didn't get around to removing and setting aside this gun's hold open as I had planned.

Best Regards,

Mike Halbrook
