Hi Bruce,

First - on "36" - Gibson notes an estimated 500. Based on the serial number ranges, there may have been fewer, rather then greater, then that estimate.

Second - the "36" is considered as a transitional HK between the Late "S" and the "1936", so you will see variations even within that variation (note grips, proper LWaA S-1 transition, etc.). To note - on my "36"s - I have both - the gauge measurement perpendiculiar to and along the bore axis. Both are correct.

Hi Bruce..!

Umm - the HK's are something of a novelty - and like you - the more I do the research, the more there is to learn, on JUST this manufacturer (HK)..!

They are amazing - and any Luger is a wonderful "addiction" - but in my mind, HK's are a little "special". But - I'm quite biased....

*If* I did a book - and I'm not saying I am (and I'm not saying I'm not.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> ) it would be from my research on HKs over the past 18 - 20 years, and would most likely fit as an adjunct to Mr. Gibson's excellent research, rather then a "new" volume. I think areas that might be of interest might be information from the Russian archives, serialization/production volume updates, variations within limited Krieg production dates, definition of some of the more obscure stamps/proofs, issues dealing with holsters and accessories, re-works and post-war, issues dealing with late 1944 & 1945 production, supplier issues in the late-war period, tooling issues, production variances, change-over dates, etc..?? .

A book about Parrots??!!! I have to be honest - I hadn't thought about that - but Jen and I do have a Sun Conure, a Green Cheeked Conure and a Brown Throated Conure.. Oh - and a cat - which is scared to death of all three Conures..!!
