Early Mauser C96 - auction - France
Just ran across this auction that will take place april 26th...not for the fainted hearts....
Estimated price for this pre production C96 Mauser is in the 40-60 K range (euros). http://www.debaecque.fr/html/fiche.j...rdre=&aff=1&r= Crappy pics considering the expected sale price! It happens that a lot of early Mausers are in France because the factory was seized by the french 2d armored division in 1945 ( 2ème DB ), the germans had evacuated all the workshops, but forgot to empty the factory museum, explaining why those Mauser were brought back by french soldiers. Curious about final price it reaches.. Interesting too is the D2 category it is in, meaning no license is required to own it. ( pre-1900 weapons fall in this category). M. |

Mauser had carefully packaged and evacuated the museum collection. But that did not stop the souvenir hunters.

hmm interesting..seems the auction house and press carry another story..but in order to make their sale bigger might be ok for them to make it more glamorous and legit..
