Default Shooting 7.65 Lugers

Is there anyone currently shooting any 7.65 Lugers? I used to blast away with them many years ago (actually thought they had better penetrating power than the nines) but have not reloaded or shot any for a long time. Thinking about it and wondered if a) there is any good ammo that is not too expensive and b) if anyone is reloading it themselves (what bullet and powder?).

Hi Bill,

I don't handload 7.65 Parabellum because I shoot it so infequently. Also, SAMCO (http://www.samcoglobal.com/ammo.html) has some very nice Finnish milsurp 7.65 Parabellum, described as:

.30 Luger Ball (7.65 Parabellum)

Mfg. Lapua/Sako, Finland 1979-81, FMJ, NC/Berdan, 93 gr. Brass cases. Packed 25 rds per box, 2000 rds per case. Wt. 58# per case.

29.9 cents per Round

250 rds $ 74.95

$ 598.00 per case

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Kyrie

BILL; I enjoy the 30 Luger more than the 9mm and shoot it more! The following loads have proven safe in my guns, but I cannot take responsibility for anyone else's use of them.

Hornady 93 gr .308; 5.6 gr Unique, 5.6 gr IMR4756, 7.5 gr Blue Dot.

Hornady 85 gr XTP .312 bullet resized to .3095; 6.5 gr Unique, 7.5 gr HS7

Hornady 60 gr XTP & Speer Gold Dot .312 bullet resized to .3095; 7.0 gr Unique, 8.5 gr HS7

The 60 gr Gold Dot load is my favorite, you should see what it does to Armadillos
