ID markings for a French collector

Hello,
On behalf of a French collector, your learned help would be much appreciated. I would guess a police force but wouldn't go further.
The gun is a 1917 DWM 9mm which was rebarreled in 1943 and received a few replacement parts as well.
Looking forward to be enlightened.
