Mark, that's a beauty. It reminds me of the day our 1911A1 Colt arrived from "Ye Olde Hunter" back about 1960. While it carried British proofs, it was new-in-the-box, made in 1943. It's still in the family. They also offered Ithaca and R-R.... all new and all at $39.95 each! Now I wish we had bought several of each. Sigh.........

I remember getting a "surplus" 1911 and M1 Carbine thru the NRA Civilian Marksmanship Program, received through the US mail, for, if I remember correctly, $12.50 & $17.50. I was pleasantly surprised when I got them, that both appeared in almost unused condition. This was in 1961. I still have the Carbine, but unfortunatly traded off the Colt years ago.

Hugh,
Yep I got the .45 Colt and .30 Carbine also. My Colt was a 1911 (not 1911A1). I believe the Carbine was an outrageous $20. I also got a new Garand, but it was something like $95. The crappy Carbine was gone many years ago, but I still have the Colt (now worked over by Bob Day) and Garand.

Very Nice! This is the first one I have seen that is NIB.
I have a M-1 Carbine that is close to new. Early War, 1942, all original. Unlike many, this carbine really shoots! Lock and Load! |
