Default Trigger Malfunction

I was at the range over the weekend with my daughter and brought my VOPO Luger. Fed and shot fine for about 10 rounds. My daughter was shooting and after her 2nd shot, it appeared that the trigger did not reset. While pointing down range, I repeatedly pulled the trigger and after about 5-6 pulls, it fired. Did this to her about 5 times. Malfunction did not happen when I shot it.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Joe

Yup... probably a dirty - sticky sear plunger.

Try soaking it in something and lubricate it with light gun oil.

Quite likely a sticky sear bar plunger, but could also be a near out of tolerance trigger lever.

Try the "soak" first, but use a very thin penetrant, and leave it submerged over night- at least.

Reset/trigger issues are not uncommon. Fortunately the fixes are often straightforward.

I would ask some more questions:
How long have you had the pistol- you mention ten rounds, or have you fired it other times?
Using snap caps, can you replicate the failure?
Using snap caps, get your daughter to replicate her technique for firing and see if it fails?
Any chance at all the side plate was not fully seated?
You should be able to check the sear plunger movement with your finger for free and correct function BTW, just remove side plate.

Have had the pistol a few years. Fired about 125-150 rounds without problems.

Have not tried snap caps yet.

Really strange thing is I would clear the round for my daughter, next round would fire and then bad trigger again. I would then reload mag and I would fire off 7 without a hang up. Give the pistol back to her and then same scenario as before.

I have since stripped down the pistol and cleaned it extensively. I will try the soak method just for good measure.

Limp wrist syndrome.

She must be too light to allow the full recoil and reset of the trigger.

Solution, wait till she grows more!
