The correct mag would be the type 1(plated w/aluminum
base) but depending upon the serial number the type 2was used also. Don't have a book available at the moment to check the serial ranges. SteveM |

Re: Mag for S/42 1936
HÃ?Â¥kan,
According to Jan Still, "Third Reich Lugers" page 125, Type 1 Army magazines of rolled, nickel plated, sheet metal with a slant-cut aluminum base were used with "1936 (up to m serial block) dated Lugers." Type 2 magazines "same as Type 1 Army except blued" were used "with 1936 (past m serial block)." Hope this helps. |

Re: Mag for S/42 1936
Hi,
The correct magazine for a 1936 S/42 up to the M block is a rolled nickle body with an aluminium base. During the M block and after, you can find blue rolled body with an aluminium base. After the M block you can find either, a nickle or a blue body and that would both be correct as this was a transition period. As far as the fxo magazines go, they did not show up until about the P block of the byf 41's. 122 magazines were first used in the early 1940 code 42's. |

Re: Mag for S/42 1936
Hi,
G-dates are an interesting variation and depending on the serial number, it has some different magazine possibilities. All would have a nickel body with an aluminium base, but the acceptance proof on the base could be a B/90 or W/154, or E/211 or E/63. |

Re: Mag for S/42 1936
ViggoG, The mag bottom shown has definately been renumbered and not with the original die set. The E/83 inspector's proof was only used in 1938. The correct magazine for your 1906 AE should be a cadium plated tube with an unnumbered wood bottom. Tom h

Re: Mag for S/42 1936
I have two mags. that would be correct for a 1936 s/42. Both are type one, with a droop wing eagle 63. One is in the g block and one in the f block.
