Unmarked holster.

Can anyone tell me what I have. I got this holster and tool with a 1915 dwm luger.

see if any markings on the inside of the lid - if in ink, very hard to see, sometimes impossible, but usually you can see something

What i see - WW1 style of holster in the military style (so not police, not really early, not past 1926)

It's an Imperial era holster that has been modified with Weimar era fittings in the lid to hold a cleaning rod.

Yes. as Ed has indicated. Look under the top..Often the maker mark, city and date have been lightly steel stamped into the smooth underside leather and can be hard to see. A good intense light and some magnification might bring it up. It might be worn so only a portion shows up.

George, Dang it..you are confusing a pistol rub spot. It has no stitching holes above the tool pouch!

Thanks for the info on where to look and use of a light I found it. It says F.W. Kinkel mainz 1915. Can I presume this holster came with the gun it's an all matching 1915 dwm. Has one matching numbered magazine and one unnumbered magazine as well. Even the grips are numbered.

A nice find for an all matching rig with a matching numbered mag to boot. Your un-numbered is likely a commercial magazine, keep that to add to any commercial Luger you may come across that needs a magazine.

Great rig and nice condition. There is a real possibility that those items (less the un-numbered mag) have all been together since 1915. You have a winner.

Ron, I wasn't paying attention. I noticed it but I have 5 projects going in the shop and am too lazy to correct it. Up to my elbows in dye as it were. Sorry..it was purely accidental.

Eric, Not seeing anything other than normal loops?

George, It's where the stock lug rubbed against the underside. A cleaning rod tube would be farther left and along the stitch line.

I thought the same as you for a couple of seconds..but no. No cleaning rod fixtures.

I count myself extremely lucky. I ordered some double shoulder hides that turned out to be really stunning..but one was 73 inches long so I could strip 10 Artillery straps out of it! I didn't expect that and I just ran out of Artillery straps! Usually I have to order a whole half a hide to get them. So the end of 2018 is good for me. Yes, I am trying to keep up with what's coming in for repairs and my own carbine case projects.

Which reminds me..did you end up with George Fortier's carbine case? Oddly enough Charlie Roscoe has it advertised on his site! I know he doesn't own it..

Stewart, Do a search on this forum for leather preservation/care etc. Over the years there have been many opinions expressed. You will find a lot to choose from.
