Cleaning Rod Identity

Can anyone identify this cleaning rod? It came in a Luger holster I recently purchased.

Never saw one like that before. Interesting. Thanks for sharing... I hope someone here can provide some insight as to country of origin, and what gun it accompanied.

Probably for a Swedish Lahti, could also be used with their M23 Luger.

You are right on!! According to my reference originally issued with the Finnish M23 luger and saw continued service with the L35 Lahti. Reference "Gun Tools Their history and identification volume 2 by R. Stephen Dorsey and James B. Shaffer (1997)" Your pretty sharp for one of us old guys. Bill

Does your reference show rods with a slotted end like mine or only the rods with the spiral ends?

Howdy,
I received a similar cleaning rod with an early SA marked holster. The cleaning rod is marked SA, the shaft can swivel in the handle. Subsequent to this acquisition it was identified as a later rod for the m23 or other weapons.
The early cleaning rod for the m23 is a brass loop variation. The displayed rod is also marked SA.
That's my 2 cents.

I still feel the slotted rod is for the M23. The one you show is totally different than the one in question. I have a brass rod like yours . To me it has always been a repro?? It is also marked SA. Do you have any reference on the brass one? I wish someone would do a book on cleaning rods. Bill

Finland refurbished there equipment for reliable service. They made equipment modifications that were simple and cost effective. The cleaning rod that started this thread could be of a later time period than the two that I posted. I understand the the longer one I posted was also used for the Finnish sub machine gun.
The posted brass looped handle cleaning rod can be seen in a Finnish holster in "Borchardt & Luger" on page 1224. In the "Land of Borchardt" the Finnish Luger m23 system rig displays the brass looped cleaning rod in numerous places.
You are correct a narrative regarding Luger cleaning rods would be helpful.

Mine does not have a swivel handle. It does fit pretty well in a 1934 holster.

Tom, That was a heckava nice holster..I shoulda bought it..glad you got it. One of the best 1934's I have ever seen.
