Default Leather Luger case from Buenos Aires

Here is another accessory from a recent purchase (in addition to the Spanish language DWM New Model manual). This very nicely made and old-looking leather case measures 12-1/4" x 7-3/4" x 2-1/2" and has cloth-covered partitions as shown. All of the stitching and hardware is still solid, although the lid is a bit misshapen. Inside is a label from a gun store in Buenos Aires. I have done some preliminary searches but cannot determine if this shop is still in business or not.

Any information or opinions about the shop or the case are appreciated.

Oops - found an image online of the gun store from 1910... I think I see my case sitting in the back.

I think "La Portena" became "El Ciervo" of Paraguay street. I did visit El Ciervo whenever I was in BA, but it is sadly gone, as are all the traditional Gunshops in Buenos Aires.

Yes, it fits an Old or New Model Luger with a 4-3/4" barrel just fine... and came with an Old Model for which I have yet to post pictures. It's not a Chilean or other South American Old Model.

very cool. No chance of selling it to me then

How did you come across it? Someone brought it to the USA 'back in day' when you could travel with stuff like this? Heck, I have talked to people that used to carry on pistols on the plane, to wherever...

I'm always slow to sell ANYTHING... but would not necessarily rule it out

It and the Spanish manual were part of a recent Julia auction - when I post the gun I will provide more details. Still doing some research and will get better light for pictures on the weekend.
