Eric, this was an easy conversion--just stick a P.38 into a Luger holster!

And one can also convert a Luger holster by putting in a P.38.

Thank you both and your opinions are priceless and always informative That is a nice example you posted but weren't there regulations regarding alterations of government property? I think this was a post war alteration~That make more sence.

Eric, this holster was probably a privately owned specimen that was altered to go to war once again.

I do like that lining.

Maybe Jerry Burney would confirm or refute this... I've read that the rough/"split" side of a piece of leather is more abrasion-resistant than is the top grain. Is it true?

And if it is true, wouldn't holsters be gentler on guns by having the "softer" top grain touching the pistols inside?

I'd presume suede leather would be in a slightly different category, and probably softest of all?
