Help determining value

I posted earlier looking to try and help my brother determine exactly what he had. Title of post is Mauser 1940 Eagle N.

I've been over to the Classified For Sale board here and the rules are clear that when you post an item for sale you have to include the price you are looking to get. I get that they don't want a bidding war between users etc. I want to honor that rule. The rub is that I'm not sure, and neither is my brother, what a reasonable asking price / range is. I know that taking this in to a retail setting is not in our best interest. I've used, as a buyer, one of the bigger online firearm auction sites. Those transactions went fine but again I'm sure not sure where to begin with price.

Please advise me on the best sources of information I can reference. I'm willing to spend some money on a book or an appraisal. Just want to do right by my brother. Thanks
