Broomhandle Mauser Carbine Question

Does anybody have a picture of one of these? I am working on one without the stock or grips. Does anybody know how many they made? This one is Serial # 010. BIG SUCKER of a Handgun <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" /> !

Is this the critter you are looking for? There were some original carbines, but there are also reproductions that were made up by Interarms or Auto Ordinance, or somebody sometime back in the late 70s early 80s I think. The one in this picture is a Navy Arms import that is for sale on GunsAmerica right now.

The one I have to work on is definetly a Mauser Orginal!!! Jerry has all the wood furniture for it so I cant post a complete picture when I am done. It is stamped MAUSER and has crown U proofs on it. Not a coobled together gun, the reciever/barrel looks like it was made from one piece of metal.

Here is a picture of an original C-96 Carbine. Check the flat side and the large hammer.

Very, very few were made, and although I canÃ?Â´t remember the exactly number it is sure much more rarer than the Luger Carbine.

A couple of questions, Ted. Is the barrel/receiver/action one section and the grip/stock detachable like Albert's? What is the barrel length?

Barrel receiver is one piece, frame is one piece, stock/grip are is one piece, frame extension under barrel for forestock, 16" barrel

According to your description, it could be a 1917 or 1922/23 Mauser Carbine. Does it have a removable magazine? Is the frame and stock one piece?

For your information, a 1917 carbine will have a hammer marked 'NS' whereas a 1922/23 Carbine has a very special hammer. Refer to my website hereunder(Secured Store) and take a look at the eleventh thumbnail on the calendar

I fired a C96 with detachable stock. I put my thumb over the stock as one would with a rifle. The hammer nailed my thumb something fierce and raised a big lump.
