Default THE DAY OF THE JACKAL movie prop

Just wanted to share my recent project.
If anyone remembers, there was a nice book ( 1971) and movie in 1973 called The Day of the Jackal. Main character played by Edward Fox.
I was always fascinated by the custom single shot bolt action rifle hidden in a crutch used for an unsuccessful assassination of Charles de Gaulle.
Flip from the movie:

I have read that there were 2 real functional props made for the movie.
I discovered that there were a few attempts to recreate this rifle+/- the crutch. There are some functional attempts of the rifle( Cricket like action- the look and mechanics are not like in the movie) and some look alikes, but seemingly not functional.
Here,s my attempt to recreate this rifle using as a donor an inexpensive Savage Rascal.

Here,s my YouTube channel and the final episode of the construction. https://youtu.be/UnZ5DIwirPQ
If interested, there are other clips that show the progress and details of the construction or rather makeover of the Rascal.
It is a fully functional rifle with the modified action and fully custom trigger group / housing seems very similar to the movie prop: antique slow lock bolt. Simple.

Forgot to mention, the rifle is fully packing inside the custom crutch.
The scope mount and plug -in trigger are hidden inside the armpit / stock butt walnut piece .
The phony silencer is just a 12 inch tube that is attached to the barrel overlapping ~4-5 “ thus giving an illusion of a short barrel( like <12”).
The ‘ silencer ‘ which looks a bit long, and crutch will be shortened by 2” .
Thanks for watching

The Jackal gun is interesting. But the idea of using a Crutch is also novel. Here is another one or two. But the Stinger into a rifle is probably the most concealable.

Thanks. Could you give me the links to these pictures/sites, I would like to learn as much as I can about them?

I love the movie prop rifles, especially one off: modified or built from scratch

I'm working on a new project now- a skeletonized sniper rifle made from AR-7 in the movie 'The Interpreter'. It is a simpler undertaking than my Jackal rifle. There I had to redo the mechanism. But it is cool looking.

Here's the links to the assembly and test fire with this new pistol grip/stock combo:

Default Finished another movie rifle

Made this all black. Indeed their red dot is more cool- hence much more expensive. But I,m ok with mine.
The pistol grip used to be a motorcycle foot peg. The ‘ wire stock’ - just a length of an aluminum tube 1/2” .

I don't have the web links, only the JPEGs. I also like the use of a laser rather than scope, but need an IR laser to avoid the shine. Also like the idea of using an aluminum body of a flashlight to make a concealable suppressor, and make all parts concealable as normal items - like the crutch. The AR-7 action makes a good base for a semi-auto for follow on shots. Maybe the best round would be a 22 magnum, subsonic with silencer... ? Oh... to be in a position to get a shot at Putin... I hope some Russian will stand up soon.

Some web sites I dug up...

https://www.packrifle.com/product/fishing-rod-and-reel/
https://www.wired.com/2011/11/15-5-o...-fishing-pole/
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/...-fishing-pole/

Don't try this at home, boys & girls... ONLY Hollywood can get away with it, in an anti-gun state like California.? And of course the government can do 'anything it damn well pleases.'
