Default Sear bar on 1916 DWM

I have a 1916 DWM that has an old style sear bar. I cannot load unless the safety is off. It is numbered to the gun. Is it unusual to have a pre-war sear bar on a wartime gun?

The relieved sear bar was devised and implemented in 1916. Late-year production has them, early production has the old style.

Grapppa ; the new safety is ONLY to unload or load but when the firing pin is armed (ready to do fire) in other case you can't mouve the toggle.

Heinz,

This is normal for -all Lugers- when the striker is uncocked--that is, in the fired position--and the safety is on. The striker sear cannot move back past the sear bar, because the safety bar will not let the sear bar spring back out of the way.
