Police Luger? P.W. V. 871
Hi all,
I just posted this in the main section for military Lugers but I also wonder if this was reissued to the police after WWI. http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthread.php?t=27671 (Main thread). It's a double date 1918/1920 with an Erfurt toggle in 9mm. Here is what I can make out of the unit markings: 'P.W. V. (something I can't read) 871.' The 'V' looks vaguely like a Roman numeral V but it's very hard to make out and I couldn't say for sure that it was a Roman numeral V but it's the closest I could think of. As mentioned in the other thread, I thought I read here that 'P.W.' was a police marking but I'm not sure what the rest says, it is too hard to read through the strikethroughs and the Xing.
