1918 Artillery - from LGS- Happy Holiday to me, from me!

I've been looking at this pretty nice 1918 DWM Artillery #2622, for nearly a year.

Finally the seller came down on the $ and I went up-anyway now it is in my safe.

Nothing spectacular, all matching, except the magazine which has a late beech base, nice original finish, with a mirror bore. Only down side it the un-numbered, but beech grips- with a $1 mio. chip. Grips seem to be original, is see a partial "V" on the back of one and an un-decipherable mark on the other, but no "22".

That is one of the best condition late LP08s I have seen for a while. I think you did very well.

Very beautiful weapon. Has anyone fired one of these at an 800m target with the sights fully adjusted? Was this feature used in the war? I know in trench warfare each armies lines were around 1 kilometer (1000m) to 2 kilometers (2000m) average from each other.

With stock attached, it could hit man size target at 400m. Not artillery, but British reported 400-meter-kill in Boer War. Artillery Luger should be similar. 400 meters!! Was that purely luck? God knows, probably yes. But hitting a chest size target at 100m does not take any effort, that can be easily verified.

Nice gun. It definitely worth more effort and waiting to find an appropriate stock for it.

Here is a 1000y 9mm shot on a man sized target. IIRC, the C96 sights go to 1000m...
