Default 1914 dated DWM Artillery Production Numbers

Hi All,

I have encountered 1914 DWM Artillery with SN: 2684.

I had thought that the production run for DWM of 1914 Artillery Lugers was 1500 pieces thus making the highest SN 1500.

Would someone tell me what I am missing?

Best Regards,
Richard

They don't always start at 0001. In this case, according to Sills, the P.08 and the LP.08 numbers were interspersed.

My sticky on Still's forum shows # 1612 as the highest recorded 14 DWM Art.

Richard

If I'm not wrong the production started around the month of February 1914 and ERFURT in that year managed to manufacture about 22K LPs, while DWM spread their production from 1914 to 1918, and according to what I found the s/n of P.08 and LP.08 were rather intermixed so it would be hard to draw a straight line.

Best regards.

Sergio

Thanks everyone for all the information.

I have since studied the Sturgess 3-vol set and I think, as FNNorm and Sergio pointed out, DWM manufacturing and serials are interspersed over a very large range which included P.08 standard and P.08 Lange Pistole. So that knowing the highest serial is not easily determined by production numbers.

What are the acceptance stamps on the right side of the receiver?

Hi George,

Just noticed you responded to this post.

This is link to the pistol: Artillery Luger .

You have to scroll way down the page to get the inspection stamps and even then they are not easy to make out.

But, looks kinda like: c/S c/G c/D ...

ALL 1914 DWM LP08s have inspection stamps of three crown/S.
