VoPo for Sale on GB

Hey Guys,

This one needs a few more attributes in order to get me excited, but if anyone wants an East German re-work with the shield intact:

The seller sent me additional pics of the VoPo shield area, but they are ".aspx" format so I cannot upload/post them, but you can ask him or I can forward to anyone interested.

He obviously did not know what he had, I caught from a distance the area of the triggerguard either had pitting or a VoPo shield, and given the Nitro proofed commercial barrel, it all made sense to get the additional pics, I would bet his reserve is too high judging by his description, anyway there it is.

The magazine is most likely for a dummy gun. Looks a lot like one.

Looks like flat-sided plastic/Bakelite grips, but no bullseye...I've seen/handled those kind of grips, I kind of like them...

Started at $500 BIN $1000...Maybe $750 Reserve???

C/N barrel...Ugly import stamp...Finish looks like a dip, no buffing...

I think $750 would be a fair price...

I can remember when RTB Corp used to have these Lugers by the crate load at gunshows here in Miami for $450. The guns were in fitted wooden crates and you could go through 50 or more guns before picking what you liked best. I bought 3-4 of these over a period of time. The guy who ran the company was German. They also had P38s by the crate load for $350. He eventually got into some sort of ATF trouble and disappeared.

The "buy it now" price reflects where the gun is located, i.e. California.

The grips are wooden, but worn. All the guns I used to see in the crates had some sort of varnish/preservative on them that made the grips look like plastic or bakelite. Once you removed this coating they were wood underneath.

I think the seller is trying to shoot the moon at BIN $1K as well, if he thought it were really "matching" then the BIN should have been higher, not sure of his motives or knowledge, I certainly have A LOT to learn with Lugers myself

, anway all I can say is, it has its shield

The import stamp under the barrel and the dipped blue makes this a shooter and unless the gun was a Kreighoff or other rare variation, (and these are always picked through by the importer before they ever hit the street), no collector is going to pay anywhere near the $1,000 BIN price.

Again, the BIN price reflects the gun's location; California, where importing pistols from free America is a bit harder.
