Odd holster...is it a commercial piece ?

Pete, Is there a photo of the back? This is indeed an odd holster. Looks to me to be non German, maybe French. with the squared toe and closure strap sewn into the left body seam.
The top is not fully molded but pleated at the left corner. This is similar to the very early Artillery holsters. It might be pleated on the right as well but I cannot see it.
Could very well be German but it's not strictly in the German pattern.
I am sure someone who knows more than I do could elucidate further.
