Police Grip stap marking
Yesterday I picked up a recent police reworked (side plate and receiver cut for sear safety) 1917 Erfurt import PO8 with a non-Prussian front grip strap marked "St.Dob." (with umlot on top of the o) and no numbers. Any ideas what city or district this might be? Thanks in advance. Tom H.

Hi Tom,
I looked through my atlas of the old Germany, which includes the "lost" lands and I couldn't find any town or city with a name beginning like that. It sounds more like a district of a larger city. I'll check it out with my German friends tomorrow, if some better informed person hasn't answered you first. Cheers, John |

Thanks John, I appreciate your efforts. Also happy to learn that "Third Reich Lugers" arrived OK. Tom H.

Hi Tom,
I'm afraid that I drew a blank with my contacts in Germany. I'll keep looking out though as I do like a nice puzzle. The Kenyon and other items arrived this morning - it's been a major source of distraction all day although I promised myself that I wouldn't touch it until work was finished. Cheers, John |
