Post List of monikers/names

I am always running into someone I know on eBay or other sites that I don't recognize because I do not know their current moniker used there.

Would anyone be interested in compiling a list of these, or perhaps there is somewhere the members could log onto a page and volunteer their monikers so we would know who we are looking at or talking to?

On a similar subject I notice that few members sign their names to their posts. This leaves one in the dark as to who we are dealing with except for those few we are really familiar with. I personally would appreciate putting a name with a moniker. I suppose one could search the site and find it eventually but I do not have the time or inclination to go to this kind of effort.

Just a thought, Jerry Burney

Jerry, if you click on "Profile" you can see the first name they put in the database.

However, a pet-peeve of mine is the lack of a name on a post... In a forum such as this, it is easier, I find it very irritating when I am reading a posting from someone on a "list-serve" or here when they use a moniker that doesn't have a name and no name on the profile. They then ask for help, and all that shows is their message...

It appears rude to me, but then... well, sometimes I get into trouble at home for being "rude"

Jerry, I also think it is a good idea, I aready know several of the Ebay sellers/buyers by thier nicknames but I'm sure there are many I haven't dealth with yet. The forum nicknames are fairly easy to decode, just click the little guy standing by the file card at the top of thier post, their real name is usually there.

I am unsure if I want over 2,000 people knowing who every one is on e-bay?

I have e-mailed a friend or someone if they are bid on something I am interested in and vice-versa (BTW, the tinker6 or whatever on e-bay, isn't me)...

I see the need to "hide" ones identity on auction sites...if one is known as a 'big spender', shill bidders might gang up and take advantage of a person...

But on Forum and discussion sites, I always thought one should use their real name and even make their PM feature or personal emails available to others. One should stand by their postings and be accountable. Why be allowed to level criticism, distribute mis-information on purpose as a sick joke, or even participate in "flamming" and hide behind some ficticous monkier...? Doesn't show much character, IMHO...

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

I agree, I like to have "real" names for the forum. As a side note, I decided to "display" my affinity for Weimar Police on Jan's forum, and as moderator I wondered if I should do that? But then, my name is available via the profile link and I almost always sign my name...

As another side-note, John Sabato would like me to have my "picture" instead of my 1914 DWM Police as my avatar, but to tell the truth, that makes me uncomfortable... Not that I care what anyone thinks about how I look, but I don't like seeing "me" showing out, and I post too damn often, that others would then get really tired of seeing me...

Many people want to show their affection for certain arms, and that is why they do it, plus some slightly hide behind their moniker, and if it allows them to post, then that is okay too.

Ed, if your photo were to follow my photo on a series of posts most likely it would shut down the forum. Just too much ugly for John D.'s servers to deal with at once. Seriously. Plus the fact that I find it difficult to dislike an avatar. People, well that's something different. Goes both ways too.
