Default 1939 Banner w/Army proofs

Recently acquired this one. Appears legit. All the small parts match, including the grips, FP. etc. Nothing appears altered or faked. Looked through Still's 3rd Reich Lugers, Hallock and van de Kant's Mauser Lugers, and Ed's Police Lugers, and can't really find a solid reference to this particular variation. Goertz and Sturgess only state that about 8,000 P-08's are in the 1939 "Z" block. So, here I submit it for your consideration. http://forum.lugerforum.com/ahttp://...1&d=1635136610http://forum.lugerforum.com/attachme...1&d=1635137230

Doug,

I have a Mauser Banner Luger with a '42' date receiver in the "g" block that has full military contract acceptance marks.

I submitted this to the forum when Joop was still with us, and his opinion was that it left the factory that way. Perhaps, toward the end, the factory was using whatever parts they had available in order to fulfil the military contracts, and the banner rather than concealment code toggle pistols were being accepted by the government.
