A Little Show-Off Time...

This is the first of my luger rigs that is nearly complete and worthy of showing all together...think I still need some boxes of period-correct ammo...

Luger is a M1929 red Bern, serial # 56777 (made in 1939)and holster is dated 1942.

Now I only have 25 or so other rigs to assemble...jeeze...

Would be worth showing off even without the accessories. You still will need to acquire a dress dagger.

Very nice display Pete, all that is missing is a "Alpenhorn" and a cow bell with an "edelweiss" painted on it. No.... I am teasing you!
I like your little cleaning kit. I have just purchase one the same on evilbay to go with my 1900 swiss. I paid $65.00 for it. I don't know if that was too much but I have never seen one here before although I do have another brass toolkit the same as comes in the kit.
I recently bid on a packet of ammo in a local auction which was described as "Ammo 30cal luger 24 rounds unopened packet" and when I picked it up it turned out to be an unopened packet of 30 cal Swiss ammo date 1905.
If I can find another I secure it for you.

Take a look in his "Misc. Accessories" section. His pricing is very fair and always better that e-Bay pricing...

He usually has a nice offering of Swiss holsters, but has sold out for the moment...

Hello Panda,

Yes...you are absolutley correct.

The wooden handled screwdriver does not belong with a luger and the leather misc. pouch actually came with my M1882 revolver. And then I did say, previously, the metal take-down tool is probably spurious.

My M1929 Bern does not seem like it was shot very much at all. The bore has absolutely no wear at all. There is no "privatization" release stamping and there are 5-6 "dimples" of hardness testing on various parts of the receiver and frame and even on the triger. My guess is that this M1929 was not in service...just a WAG...

I do have a front sight adjusting tool and a Luthy muzzle cover that I forgot to include when I took the photo.

When I get some 7,65 swiss ammo and a nice dress dagger, I will shoot the rig again and will try not to forget these items...

You make a very good point. Is it well-known in CH that many such guns stayed in a military arsenal and then released without the P-stamping...?

Another WAG I had was that maybe the person in the service passed away and his surviving family did not turn in his sidearm. Then it was sold/exported later...? If a person passed away while still on active military duty, would the authorities come to his home to collect the weapons...?

. Unless of course there is no family to do it. In this case the authorities would come in any case.

Military guns are only issued to those who have regularly completed their military duty. Dying is not a regular way of completing military duty in Switzerland (only in ennemy armies
